SAMNET calls on the public and civil society to press government to act quickly on strong measures against alcohol, substance and nicotine abuse among children and young people.
Addiction and abuse among children and youth is a global problem. It needs a multi-pronged strategy, led by stronger legislation restricting advertising, access and impact.
We need to counter the strength of the alcohol, tobacco and nicotine lobby among politicians and parties. No amount of “economic impact” compares to the impact on a child’s body and mind.
The time to act is now.
