The legislation has been on the cards for years.
We can change lives by dealing properly with South Africa’s unhealthy relationship with alcohol — with its abuse, and with its impact on health, on gender-based violence, on sexually transmitted infections, on road deaths and on economic loss.
It is time for civil society, healthcare bodies and faith organisations to push together for greater controls.
