The voters’ roll closes on or about 4 August 2026 for the November 2026 local government elections. After that date you cannot vote, and you cannot change where you vote.
Register even if you are not sure whether you will vote, or who you would vote for. Registering does not commit you to anything. Not registering commits you to nothing at all — without it, you do not get to decide later.
It Takes Five Minutes, on Your Phone, for Free
- The IEC website is zero-rated — it uses no data.
- You receive a one-time PIN on your phone. It is valid for three minutes.
- You take or upload a photograph of the front of your ID.

Already Registered? Check Anyway
Confirm your ward and your voting station. Some ward boundaries have changed, and a registration that is correct in every other respect will still send you to the wrong station on the day.
