SAMNET called on students and academics around the world to write to the administration of Ontario Tech University, asking it to permit campus iftaars.

We called on our MSAs to share pictures and accounts of their own iftaars — because the most effective answer to the claim that these gatherings are a risk is the evidence of what they actually are.

Academic institutions are meant to be places of inclusion and tolerance. Islamophobic policy dressed up as “security” is a dog whistle, and it should be named as one.
