France’s football federation drew criticism over a reported policy preventing Muslim players from fasting at the national team’s training camp during Ramadan.

The French Football Federation was reported to prohibit fasting at camp in the name of strict secularism — laïcité — a principle that has long fed broader tensions in French society.

France continues to be champions of anti-Muslim behaviour.

A player’s fast is a matter between that player and their faith. A rule that singles it out does not protect neutrality; it selects which beliefs are allowed to travel with the squad.
